Each
year, the FAWCO Foundation, the philanthropic arm of
FAWCO, awards approximately $20,000 in development
grants to projects benefiting women and children, usually
those in third world or emerging countries.
Grant applications can be downloaded from the web at
www.fawcofoundation.org,
and each application must be sponsored (i.e. endorsed)
by a FAWCO member club.
-
Nominate
a favorite charity helping women and/or children
for one of FAWCO Foundation's nine Development Grants.
Our club can nominate two, and all FAWCO clubs will
vote to determine the winners. Deadline
is Nov. 1. Get details and forms at the above
website, and send them to me at jannmmitchell=aol.com.
Democratic
Selection
The projects to be funded are selected via a democratic
process. Once all the applications are received by the
Foundation, they are listed and sent out to FAWCO's
70 member clubs in 35 countries. Each club is asked
to rank the applicants, and then the Foundation tallies
the votes.

Funding
Funding for the development grants comes from the conference
silent auction, the conference quilt raffle, and donations
made by member clubs.
