Guidelines for AWC Fundraising Activities and Philanthropic Contributions

1. Criteria
     a. Projects that meet some or all of the following criteria will be considered:
         · Eradication of extreme poverty and hunger
         · Guaranteeing all children access to primary school education
         · Promotion of women and gender equality
         · Prevention of cruelty to children
         · Reduction of child mortality
         · Improvement or preventative health care for mothers
         · Fighting HIV/AIDS and other epidemics
         · Sustainable environmental preservation
         · Scientific, educational, economic and cultural development projects with direct            benefits to women and children
         · Establishment of a partnership between AWC and other locations or            organizations for philanthropic purposes.

     b. Additional criteria may be considered when the Philanthropy and Executive          Committees determine that significant events warrant such consideration.

2. Funds designated for philanthropic contributions, including earnings from an AWC fundraising activity, must be spent for the stated purpose of the selected philanthropic project or projects.

3. Any club member seeking AWC sponsorship for a fundraising event or philanthropic activity, or who wishes to coordinate a club activity which relates to philanthropic contributions or fundraising, must present their ideas (see #4 below) to the PC. The PC will evaluate the criteria of the planned event or activity, confirm a date, and help with support, with approval of the EC.

4. Although not required, it is preferred that applicants for AWC philanthropic funds submit a completed application form to the PC for formal consideration. <create link> Members are encouraged to contact the PC chair or a PC member to discuss their ideas prior to submitting an application. In recognition that time or other circumstances may preclude the possibility of submitting an application or proposal in writing, members should not hesitate to contact the PC regarding requests for fundraising activities or philanthropic projects.

5. The PC will make recommendations to the EC for philanthropic funding. These reports shall be submitted in written form and will include an explanation of the project, a description of the function, scope and projected achievements of the organization and project to be funded.

6. The EC will make the final determination of the recipients for all philanthropic funds distribution.

7. The PC will submit a year-end summary of ACW philanthropic activities to the EC. This report will be published in the May issue of the Round Robin.

8. Recipients of AWC funding for philanthropic purposes may be required to submit a final report regarding the project's outcome and distribution of funds.
