The
post office in old-time Sweden was the major hubbub for activity.
It was responsible for not only letters and parcels, but also
financial transactions, community networking, and more! Today
the major post offices are open Monday to Friday 9 AM to 6
PM and Saturdays 9 AM to 1 PM. Sundays are closed. There are
local variations, especially on the countryside.
There
is no mail delivery on Saturdays, but often twice daily on
weekdays.
The
Post Office in Sweden (Posten) is changing the way it does
business. In the summer of 2001 Posten began launching 3000
new service outlets with better availability and longer opening
hours. The new Posten will be located close to where you perform
your daily errands, in the grocery store and at the gas station.
Posten is also enhancing its online services to better meet
their customers' business and everyday life needs.
Check
out the Post
Office Web Site for more information.
Financials

in any post office; as can all postgiro transactions.
Stamps
Stamps
can also be bought from a machine, located outside most of
the post offices, they can also be purchased in a variety
of shops, tobacco shops, and many supermarkets. Packages and
larger letters must be sent from a post office or designated
post service counter.
