Photo Consent Policy

Last updated: July 2026

Please read this Photo Consent Policy carefully as it describes how AWC Stockholm uses photos taken at our events. If you have a question or request concerning this policy, please contact us at president@awcstockholm.org.

Definitions

  • AWC: American Women's Club
  • Member: a person who has been approved for membership and has paid their dues
  • Internal use: sharing limited to our own community
  • Public use: sharing visible beyond our own community

1. Photo collection

1.1. General collection and purpose

AWC Stockholm regularly takes photos at our events, including luncheons, After Work, Fika, the AGM, and other club activities. These photos are used to share with our community, keep as part of our club's archive, and, where consented to, share publicly.

1.2. Internal use

Internal use includes photos shared on our website, our WhatsApp Community, and our private Facebook group, as well as photos kept in our internal club archive for record-keeping. This is our default use of event photos and does not require the consent described in Section 2.

1.3. Public use

Public use includes photos shared where anyone could see them, not just members. This includes our public Facebook page, Instagram, LinkedIn, and materials we contribute to outside organizations such as FAWCO. For example, when we submit photos to FAWCO's Inspiring Women magazine, which is published on FAWCO's public website, that counts as public use.

1.4. Specific events

Specific events, such as the 115th Anniversary Celebration, may have their own photography terms as part of that event's registration. Where such terms exist, they take precedence over this policy for photos taken at that event.

2. Your consent

2.1. Providing consent

By checking the photo consent box in your member profile, you consent to AWC Stockholm using photos that include you for public use, as described in Section 1.3. If you do not check this box, we will only use photos that include you internally, including in our archive.

2.2. Changing your consent

You can change your answer at any time by updating this field in your member profile.

2.3. Requesting removal

If you'd like a photo removed after it has already been shared publicly, contact us at president@awcstockholm.org and we'll do our best to accommodate your request.

2.4. Individual features

This consent applies to general club photography. For anyone featured individually by name or story, such as a scholarship recipient, we will always ask for separate written permission before publishing.

3. Contact us

If you have any questions about this policy or how your photos are used, please contact us at president@awcstockholm.org.
